In partnership with @chirla_org, Midcity Mercado is excited to present Más Cerca Que Lejos, an art walk and memorial for the ones we carry with us at our 4th annual West Adams Día de los Muertos Festival 🧡 Artwork will live throughout the footprint of the festival, in galleries in select businesses and installs at select intersections 🕊️
We’re looking for work about memory, loss, the people we carry, and the places that hold them. All mediums are welcome 🖼️

Activities & Activations
Celebrate art, music, and movement across the festival with murals, live performances, and community spaces that bring our traditions to life.

Community Altar
The Community Altar is the heart of our celebration, honoring those who have passed and the memories that unite us. Visitors are invited to bring a framed photo to add to the altar for collective healing, and to take part in the activities and performances at the Altar Stage throughout the day.

Art Gallery & Community Mural
Join local artists and festival guests in painting a large-scale community mural that celebrates remembrance, joy, and cultural pride. Everyone is welcome to add their brushstroke to this living canvas.

Recuerdos Stage
Our Recuerdos Stage has become a festival staple, presented by our City Councilwoman and featuring a lineup of traditional Latine artists and cultural performances that bring the spirit of Día de los Muertos to life.

FAQ
What time does the festival start and end?
The festival runs from 12 PM to 8 PM on Saturday, November 1st, 2025. Arrive early to enjoy the full day of art, performances, food, and community celebration!
Do I need to buy tickets?
No — this is a free community event open to all ages! Everyone is welcome to celebrate with us.
Where can I park?
Street parking will be very limited along W Adams Blvd and surrounding streets. We strongly encourage attendees to take public transportation, carpool, or use rideshare to help reduce traffic and congestion. The easiest way to reach the festival is by taking the Metro E (Expo) Line to the Jefferson/La Cienega Station, which offers parking and is just a short distance from the festival area.
Can I bring my own altar items or offerings?
Yes! Visitors are encouraged to bring framed photos or small offerings to add to the Community Altar in honor of their loved ones.
How can I get involved?
None of this happens without our volunteer family.

Manos Benditas
We are raising funds to provide direct financial support to Los Angeles street vendors featured in the Manos Benditas visual storytelling project, honoring the hands that sustain our neighborhoods and culture.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 to distribute directly to vendors including Don J and Doña M, along with additional street vendors experiencing economic hardship.
These funds will be distributed quickly and directly to ensure low-barrier support reaches the people who need it most.
